Sam’s journal + Stiff as a board

CLICK ON PICTURE FOR NEW JUNE PHOTOS | Ben said something hilarious about his first experience at a gym class yesterday. The only thing he did well (and better than the sweet, cuddly girls) was "stiff-as-a-board" where you lie down stiff and the instructor lifts you up by the shoulders to a standing position. He did that great. He's been stiff as a board since birth - you try to hug him and he kicks and stiffens. So I told Dave that story about gym class last night at dinner and Ben goes "Yeah, just like HollyRamona" - the hen who expired a week ago. When I carried her to the maple tree to bury her with Ben, the morning of the water gun war, she was stiff. We talked briefly about why, so maybe that's why he remembers. He is TOO much!

Sam’s first summer journal entry (original spelling retained):

Weeks of 6-18 and 6-25

You know summer is when scool is out. Most of the time good things are hapining. Not onle around me but to me. One of my favrits was Mindstorms! Kitsap reginel Librare (KRL) sometimes has speishle events. Sometimes it’s spechis like Orion the owl. And some times Enginnering. Like Legos at the Librare, and a Cardbord Marble runs. That’s Gordon going for a ride. I’m feeling MUCH better now. As a result, a whole bolus of mischief came out at dinner tonight. When I am sick, the mischief and fun gets pent up for days, but does eventually come out. No one knows when or how. In case you ask, and I later forget, I might possibly have been doing “The Merlin Show” for Ben to entertain him while he slowly ate dinner (he was tired from a romp in the pool). This “show” might have included a dance on the bench seating to Rhiannon. Dave said it was “disturbing.” Hmmm…

Oh my gosh — a little Fleetwood Mac? On the bench? I gotta see this performance. What would Merlin say if he saw it? hahahaha! Poor Davey — just doesn’t quite recognize “talent”. I feel for his folks when they arrive. Do you think you can ramp up quietly for them? I’m afraid I’m going to have to “talk them down” when they freak out.

I’d do it again for you, mom πŸ™‚ I had to call my super fun friend T and tell her because I need to laugh with someone who would understand – but I had to wait until Dave was out of the house first. Our giggling unsettles him, I think. T’s daughter always says “Can she call you back?” Tonight I asked T if that is because she needs to get to an encrypted line first πŸ™‚
