Underberg

Matt – we’re raising a wee bottle of aromatic herbal spirits to you tonight as you spend your last night at home before heading off to boot camp! I love the slogan on the box – [Underberg] cannot be explained, it must be experienced. (That’s how I’d like to be remembered!) Best wishes on your next adventure!Sam floored me this morning. We were doing some simple stacking with big plastic Solo cups while I made oatmeal (it’s winter here). I put 3 out on the coffee table (his “workbench”) and asked him how many there were. He replied “eee” (his way of saying three – he cuts off all but the last syllable right now). So I put out 2 and he said “ooo” – amazed, and thinking this can’t be for real, I put out 4 and he said “vo” (I guess “four” is rough because that last letter is one he can’t say at all!). I was so thrilled for him. He repeated this feat with all kinds of objects today and, importantly, did it for Daddy tonight to prove Mommy wasn’t imagining it 🙂 You go, Sammy!

We also introduced him to his potty tonight. Thanks to friend Laurie, we have a great little mini potty on loan. It looks like a real toilet, back, bowl and everything, and even has a flusher! I installed the battery to make sure that worked 🙂 He is a little tentative about it but actually sat down a few times, and even all nekked right before bath. I have been looking forward to potty training for a long time. My close friends well understand why this might be…

Yes, pictures and video to come!!!

I confess that I just logged onto the Underberg website and played a little game about the company history to collect virtual bottle-tops. If I collect only 288 of these tops I can redeem a special little old-fashioned Underberg delivery truck that holds 12 of the tiny bottles. This is not something I would normally do. I don’t know what’s gotten into me! (It IS a well-done game, though.)
