this was note handwritten with a sharpie on the back of a van parked at the beach today. angel and i wanted to fix the typo 🙂

we picked up both cars today – the Xterra and VW GTI. spent all day at pier 51b but it was very productive! around 2pm, starving, we all went to a neat restaurant tucked down an alley between cargo buildings – a place angel knew about but really had us wondering until we walked through the door and found such a great refuge from the shipyards. we inquired if they were serving lunch and were told “no, the chef broke both his arms, so he can’t cook.” i asked if i could go in the kitchen and whip up some sandwiches – you can imagine the reaction 🙂 we were thinking the chef should be awarded the best sick day excuse on the planet for that one! i bet he knew if i heard that he had one broken arm i’d exclaim that he has another good one, doesn’t he??? 🙂 ha ha – the food fangs were out!

sam really enjoyed some WWF time with David, 10 yrs older than him! he “tackled” David and had a great time listening to him read some favorite stories in his pigpen (playpen). as promised, the picture above is of Chuck, the strange chicken-duck cross living on the canal behind Mike and Angel’s house. we also spotted what seemed to be a pigeon-chicken cross today – “picken”??? there are a lot of chickens on the island – perhaps not enough spouses for them so they had to branch out a bit? that’s our theory…
