Kitchen chemistry – it’s early release Monday

Wow - the sugar melted, then it formed a hard crystal when it cooled! How cool! You know Sam is REALLY into crystals right now! I never anticipated how much this would thrill him. Tapping it made a cool sound.

Melting sugar - well, carmelizing it - to see what happens. It's edible chemistry! I hope we can clean the pan!!!

Racing ice cubes. One was melted on the bottom (really scooted) and the other wasn't.

We saw little hexagons and even things that looked like cells.

You guys are really into some neat experiments – edible crystals and racing ice shapes and did I observe the use of a microscope??? Love to all,

Hi Pops! Yes – edible crystals – what could be better? Sam is really bugging us to go to Arkansas to go prospecting. He has some sites picked out. He is just nuts about crystals! Thankfully he is just as enamored with quartz as with diamonds 🙂 And I was able to find some places closer to us.

Very cute page! Curious little man-boys! They’ve got the right mom to enhance and reward their curiosity!

    Aloha Alli,

I have been thinking about you lately, I did my third donation to Locks this month. I did my first when I was selected for Chief, second when I was selected for Senior Chief and this one on selection to Master Chief. I have to let you know that you are the one who introduced me to the idea. So I have short hair again. It was very beneficial as we did Koko Head for the first time last weekend and being 3 feet from the sun it is HOT up there. We didn’t get there as early as we had planned so were there in the hottest part of the day. PTL for the cooler of ice water in the car to refill the quite empty water bottles when we finished. I hope you and your “little Scientists” are all doing well and have fun with those baby pumpkins. I am going to make mine out of palm frauds. I thought it appropriate. Happy Halloween!

    Peace, Love & Smiles,
