J O Y unparalleled

This is my first note I think – it’s Alli here 🙂 Thanks to my mom, we’ll be able to reflect back on these early days and see how we were and what we were doing. We are so blessed to have Sam and Ben in our lives. We went to mass this morning with Ben – only 4 min late! Not bad for 4 days old. We were almost done with the service when we heard you know what explode into Ben’s diaper. The row behind us was giggling right along with us. They had been seeing me ready to pop any week and congratulated us when we arrived at mass – that was nice 🙂 Dave changed the diaper for me…he has been such an incredible support. He stepped right in to pick Ben up any time he fussed at the hospital (it helped that I was very slow to move anyway), and yesterday morning he and Sam arrived in our room with a tray of fresh fruit all sliced up like a fine hotel’s room service with coffee in the French press, ready to go. I almost cried. There were even mint leaves garnishing the fruit!

The first couple nights have been a dream with Ben. No fussing and sleeping several hours at a time. We keep waiting for the other shoe to drop since Sam was NOT a sleeper. I was still zonking out in my nursing chair at 1 month of age with him. He fussed and fussed. I remember looking at the clock countless times in the wee hours… So please keep those prayers going – we would like to have a third child and such smooth sailing now really improves the odds that I’ll embrace the chance if presented to us 😉 I was in shock after Sam for probably a whole month – physically and emotionally. The birth experience itself was radically different than with Ben. Poor Sam may have been in shock, too, having gone through such a difficult delivery. Anyway – we are all doing very well and loving every minute of being together. Having Dave home for two weeks is unbelievable! He was home two days with Sam then right back into 3-section duty nights.

JOY ~ the other night I couldn’t sleep even though both Dave and Ben were. I realized that I was losing precious sleep to Joy! I was thinking about all the adventures the boys will have with us, and all the people we are blessed to have in our lives. I basked in the knowledge that it was simply a sense of joy that was keeping me up. I couldn’t ask for more. Aloha nui loa for now…

Just wondering how it’s going with the new little one… What a wonderful blessing siblings are. I see that you all are doing great. I’ve been on baby patrol with Jonah, "Use your quiet voice, baby Ben is sleeping" he’s been great. Love & hugs to you Krugs… let me know if you need anything, I’ll be making a Costco run sometime this week. Peaceful dreams…
