It’s a . . .
Dave and I went to the ultrasound yesterday morning. It was so nice to have him there for this pregnancy and to see the baby. The ultrasound was very detailed – about 45 minutes – and we got to see great images of the heart beating, the brain, the nasal bone, the diaphragm, feet, hands, etc. They were looking for any markers of a genetic anomaly, which they didn’t find. I will go back at 22 weeks for a follow-up to grab some images that they couldn’t get today (the C-spine at the neck I think is what she said). The baby kept moving around and hiding. We are so happy and blessed that the little guy looks healthy and is developing normally. Not that we had any concerns, but it’s just something I don’t take for granted. Especially now that I’m so old! 🙂 Every child is a miracle, and we can’t wait to meet Sam’s little brother. We have a name in mind, but want to sit with it for a few days… Sam basically named himself, as has this baby. I’m dying to tell you…but Dave would like to wait a day or two! :0 When we found out it is a boy, Dave said to me immediately…”You know what that means?” Uh huh. It means he wants to try for a third so he can have a girl, too. We’ll see – this pregnancy is as easy as it gets – no sickness and no complications. Almost makes me think I could do another, except for the labor and delivery part. I am decidedly not looking forward to that again. Hopefully this will progress much faster and he won’t be quite as big…
In other news – we had a dessert last night that had us talking about it hours later…gingerbread bread pudding. Doug, I wished we could ship some on dry ice to you. It was ridonculous, to use Mary’s term!
Praise God for your developing son!
Looking forward to hearing his name,
but consider the potential “why did you name him that?” interrogations (just kidding).
Love ya all
Congratulations you three! Sam is gonna be a great big brother! FYI… My labors with an epidural were a blast…didnt feel a thing…I would rather go through that than the stomach flu even. When is the new little guy due??
The new little guy is due around May 15. We think his name will be Benjamin William. Sam is calling him “Baby Ben.” “Ben” means mountain in Scotland (Ben Nevis, Ben Lomond, etc.), a place with special family connections for me and personal significance to Dave and I; “William” is my Dad and grandfather’s name as well as Dave’s Dad’s name. If you have other suggestions, feel free to send them to us for consideration…we’ve got a few months left to deliberate. 🙂
