“It’s a POTION!”

Sam really, truly loves The Rescue of BABAR. He loves all BABAR books, but this one in particular reinforced his fascination with volcanoes and craters, and “the city IN the crater.” To keep things real for mom, we decided to make a potion. All we needed was a victim. (BABAR gets poisoned by the people who live in the crater city, and is then rescued by his daughter.) Dave was the obvious choice. But in order to get our victim to drink the potion, I needed to give Dave a heads-up 🙂 I emailed him and secured a rather tenuous agreeement to play along. Enough to move forward with the plot, though! Click on the picture above to see the play-by-play. Sam is funny – he tells you where to hide, and he tells you there’s potion in your drink! When Dave got “sleepy” (as BABAR did) he lay down. Sam and I went to check on Dave – and when BABAR awakened, he did so with a huge elephant trumpeting sound! Sam LEAPED! He really enjoyed it. The funniest part for me, though, was when Sam took one of Dave’s belts and used it to “trap” BABAR in the bathroom – he put BABAR’s leg through the belt then secured it by closing a drawer on the other end. Poor BABAR was sitting on the potty, restrained by his leg, with his son and wife laughing like crazy. We waved “BA-BYE BABAR!” and howled down the hallway 🙂
