“He’s a sailor.”

Sam and I were just watching the news together about the campaign. Ben is taking a short morning nap, so I’m relishing this time with Sam alone. I said the campaign story was about electing the “PRESIDENT” of the “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and I described what “President” means – the person in charge of all our states (he has a puzzle of the states and knows most of them).  I said three people want to be elected – a man named “Obama,” a woman named “Clinton,” and a man named “McCain.” Sam immediately replied “He’s a sailor” regarding McCain. I have no idea where he got that – perhaps I said something in passing a few weeks ago when my brain was actually tuned into the world around me. I was floored. He has very good recall – often relaying stories or observations from long ago.
