first coffee bar guests | tandem kayak!

Video: The drive up to our house.

Video: Coffee bar is open! (Note: speed slowed to half because I panned too fast.)

We enjoyed an early morning latte/cappucino with Mike and Angel this morning. Dave made excellent drinks for us with his espresso machine and French press. The coffee tastes so fresh when brewed with a press. Even I am convinced the extra work is worth it 🙂 Then we went up to the North Shore to pick up a great used tandem kayak we bought from a Craig’s list contact (of course!). You’ll see a picture of it in the video. We are thrilled! Sam even has his own seat in the middle – it’s designed for two adults and a little person. We plan to go tomorrow morning in the canal by our house (it runs through the marsh – also in the video).

We’re continuing to unpack, sort, hang and pitch. You’ll laugh when I get a chance to post before/after pictures 🙂 I was so tired last night after the week of unpacking, flooring demo and install (all while having to stay extra vigilant with Sam due to tile cutters, saws, tools and other detritus lying around) that I totally crahed on the couch last nigth at 9:45 pm while Dave worked around me. I haven’t been that tired since running a marathon, or 18 hrs of labor with Sam!

The mess is downright scary in some areas, so I have not filmed the inside yet. For now, I hope you enjoy seeing our environs and the drive up to our house. The clouds came over the mountains in the 2 min of filming I did – half the sky is cloudy and the other half is sunny. There are often clouds over the mountains on the windward (our) side of the island. One of the reasons I wanted to live here, actually – redheads need some cloud cover every now and then!

If you think I’m addicted to Craig’s list…you might be right. However, it’s really helped us out. For instance, we were able to donate the carpet we pulled up from the living room to a family in need – within 20 minutes of posting it I had 20 inquiries. We sold our desktop computer and bought the kayak through Craig’s list, all within the last 3 days. We held a successful garage sale without hanging a sign. And tonight I found two people interested in taking our 30 book boxes, again, within minutes of posting. It’s really amazing. I’m wondering if any of you use Craig’s list as much as we do? Aloha for now!

AhhhSo! I see bookcases on the long living room wall and they go well with the new bistro table, don’t they!! I tried hard to see the new living room floor and kitchen/dining area floor, but you’re holding out on us! 🙂 What do I hafta do — pay for video??? 🙂

Can’t wait until we can talk again!

Leaving in the morning by train from Aberdeen to London area via Glasgow so that we’ll get to see the west side of Scotland.

Aberdeen is my favorite city in Europe so far. Clean, safe and gorgeous granite buildings.

Gotta head back to the Guest house — been at Starbucks since about 1:30 p.m. and it’s after 4 p.m. now — trying to get photos sent mainly to Pris, of all the genealogical stuff she savors, and now I do too!

    Love you mighty BIG!!
