Day 7: a visit with Tito Pig and Tita Bear

We had an impromptu visit from Doug and Mary this afternoon! I thought they were traveling this weekend, but it turned out they were both in the City (a rarity these days) and were interested in coming down for a visit to the ‘country’. Sam really enjoyed playing with them (as you’ll see in the pictures). It was a beautiful, sunny fall day. I love this weather, and it was great to spend a few hours relaxing with them. Sam and I will visit New York City next weekend for a night. Mary’s girlfriends can’t wait to see Sam. He is so lucky to have so many people who love him.

Today (Sunday) we went to church at Dad and Marilou’s church, then out to a ridiculousy big brunch with Janet, Bill and the kids. It was fun. Sam is now taking a well-earned nap. I also breezed through the Exchange this morning to buy some warmer clothes for Sam – long sleeve shirts and pants, and a nice sweat suit to sleep in. (He doesn’t keep blankets on yet.) Dad and Marilou laughed at me – my nose was condensing water vapor this morning at 69 degrees. I did some quick math – it’s been 18 months since my body has been in any temperature less than 75. Our house rarely deviates from 82-83 even in the winter months. Too funny. But, you did read previously that I want to be COLD on this trip, so I’m happy. It was 46 degrees last night. Woo hoo! I talked to Sam about snow – how it’s like cold sand. I described how I love winter hiking, snowshoes, crampons, etc. He got all excited about the car’s wheels turning on snow (he’s fascinated by cars, wheels, roads, making tire tracks, etc.). He especially liked the idea of it being slippery! He said “I’m a SNOW hiker!” Just like mommy 🙂 I hope he gets a chance to do that with me some day soon.

We’ll have to show him a picture of him when it was snowing at your house in WA. Without the picture, he won’t remember it, but he loved it! And I love the pictures!
