Decorating the house for Christmas!

Decorating the house for Christmas!

I am working on hanging the lights outside this year – very exciting! Wiring is a bit of an issue – to avoid tripping hazards and kids getting into things they shouldn’t – but I shall prevail 🙂 Mom has been sick the last 10 days or so, but Richard has just arrived and she’s now on antibiotics, so I’m hoping life will return to normal here soon. It’s strange having a sick Gramma around who can’t play! Sam, Ben and I found a toy for her cottage on our running/biking route – a big, yellow, plastic snail rocking-type toy out at the road for free, so we put it on our jogging stroller and ran it down to Gramma’s cottage.

As we were running home, we got about a block from Kalapawai and Ben said “Muffin!” then we passed the pizza place we have gone to a couple times and he said “Pizza!” – can you believe it? He’s only 18 months! Then we passed the fire station – the big garage doors were closed and there were no fire trucks visible. He said “Hurry! Hurry!” – the name he calls firetrucks because his favorite ride-on toy fire truck has a song that goes “Hurry, hurry, to the fire…” So Sam and I were joking around about how funny it would be if Ben could just take the jogging stroller out like a little electric car, drive it around Kailua (without Mom and Sam to help) and pull up to Kalapawai, get a muffin, then go to Bob’s and try to get pizza, then not pay for it (Sam’s idea – Ben doesn’t have any money), and then the police would come and bring him home. Then we decided it would be really funny if we dressed him just in a diaper and a Santa hat and took him out for a spin…we should really mess with him while we can, we’re thinking! This was all inspired by Ben’s name for the Christmas tree – it really sounds more like “mischief tree.”
