We couldn’t resist trying out mom’s cute new inflatable kayak with a see-through bottom. Mom waded out into the water to help us get in and to take some pictures 🙂 Sam loves kayaking, so despite not having a PFD on, we decided to go out just a wee bit since the water was as calm as his bath. Maybe calmer…have you seen Hurricane Sammy? My friend Dana tried kayaking for the first time as well…she went way out and did great! We also saw a sand castle competition on the beach and biked over and back with the trail-a-bike (tow-behind my bike so Sam can pedal and sit on his own). We kept busy this morning so Dave could finish up his homework. Too bad he missed a great day on the beach, though.

We had a great weekend! Yesterday we camped out on Kaneohe Bay and kayaked out to a cool island, aptly named “Turtle Island,” and today started out with a 10K (6.2 mile) race early this morning. Gorgeous sunrise! Sam was a great running buddy 🙂 Check out all the pictures in the Album link above. Now I’m helping Dave organize the garage while Mom plays with Sam. (Can’t you tell???) We had a great three-day weekend – no duty for Dave so we could go on lots of adventures! Today we enjoyed kayaking in the Kahana Valley, near where Jurassic Park was filmed, with our friends Nate, Laurie and daughter Cate. New pictures and video are posted in the gallery. The pictures tell the whole story, and it’s time for bed so I must sign off!

We decided to sneak out and kayak after lunch today – a little reward for accomplishing so much this weekend! We got the office/guest room put together and the sea of wires and cables has been tamed around the entertainment center.
