Move preparations underway, kids are out of school, roller hockey in full swing, and Wheat decides to go BROODY!
1 A flower given to me by Principal Belt last year has come back marvelously this spring. I love plants as thank-yous.
2 My teenage chick school...
4 Lunch with ladies - saying goodbye early is nice, knowing there should be plenty of time to see them over the summer.
6 Many bouquets given as thank-yous. So nice.
8 Tidying up to list the house for rent.
9 Mom and Richard will be arriving soon.
13 On a Mother's Day hike up Mt. Walker on a VERY hot day!
32 Annual Fay Bay BBQ for Wilkes parents. Such fun!
33 This is how I keep track of shifts - making sure there is equivalent playing time.
35 Making a cipher for my stint as a WAVES radioman at Fort Ward.
36 Dress rehearsal
37 I learned Morse Code to do this. So cool. And I met a really neat lady...who now lives in Station S. Sarah - I miss you!
38 Treating Calvin's hurt foot. Poor guy. I can't believe he ripped a claw off and got his foot infected. He was near organ failure I think when I started treating him. In the midst of all the move prep, this was somewhat tempting to just let go the way of nature's intent. But I couldn't let him go without trying. And guess what? He hung in there with drop-by-drop nursing of antibiotic and foot dressings, and hand feeding, and separation from the flock so Gordon wouldn't hurt him.
39 Hi, buddy! Hang in there, dear boy!
40 He was gallant. Still is. Months later - Sept - he is doing better, thanks to a very good friend's efforts at being a vet!
41 The teens are having happy hour!
46 Ben relaxing while guarding chicks
47 He is so funny with them!
54 OMG this was funny. Trying NOT to laugh with three boys in RiteAid while you get your passport photos done is HARD! I look like a convict! I was finally like - "boys! Hit the candy aisle, buy all the Magic cards you want! Go for it! I just need 30 seconds here!"
55 More eggs!!!
57 Sam becoming quite a chef :)
59 Dave sees how shopping with two boys has been done all these years.
60 Two carts, comparisons at the end, and editing before we hit the register.
61 Hey Jeff! I am so sorry we didn't get to hang out with you for picture time!!!! Let's see if we can do that from Japan, ok? Really!
62 Coffee at the rink for early games - a hiking stove
63 More drying time!
65 Calvin, buddy!
69 At Fort Ward in Station S for our living history event.
71 The cast!
77 House is clean, ready to list!
91 MRI - all appointments you need must get done asap to include in the medical files...so...busy busy following up on all preventive care.
94 Wheat went broody! So on top of hatchery chicks, and incubator chicks, we have a hen sitting on 11 eggs! Don't tell Dave...not yet ;)
104 Out on a jog with boys after school is out. This is a sock mace. We had so much fun whipping each other with is. I finally kept the sock mace and named it Isabelle because it looked like a cow (white with black spots). Always good to have an extra pair of socks around. Kids show up at games with slippers (flip flops) on and no socks...so...good to have backup!
108 Great form, Taj!
113 Chick training!
117 Ben and his good friend, Julian.
124 Roosting together!
129 Christine Groves and husband John in the background. We've known them 14 years! Since Groton! Christine hasn't aged a day! OK, John, you haven't either ;)
138 Out on my SUP before it gets stored...
142 The apartments are full - chicks, Calvin and Wheat!
