Kaena Point
We went on a hike out to Kaena Point yesterday – one of Dave’s favorite spots. It’s so serene despite lots of people making the 5 mile roundtrip trek out to the northwesternmost point of the island (see map inset with arrow). This picture is taken shooting southest along the leeward side of the island (direction of arrow). We saw nesting albatross, a monk seal basking, and many whales spouting and even breaching! It was a banner day! Well, all except for Sam puking as we headed back due to some heat exhaustion. Little peakbagger didn’t drink enough on the way out, and we went pretty fast apparently. Everyone is fine, but it has taken a whole day of self-remonstration to get to the point of chuckling about it.
Today we were doing some yoga moves in the boys’ bedroom. Sam did “bridge” and I told him that’s what it was called. Then he said “I’ll show YOU another YOGA move.” Then he put his feet high up on Ben’s crib so his body sloped down. His head lay on the floor, arms flung to the sides. “This is called HILL. See how my BODY goes DOWN?” (Emphasis is his own.)
Clever lady — that little map in the corner of your picture! You’ll have more pictures in about an hour — I’ll bring a CD over with Richard’s and my photos to add to yours.
I love Kaena Point as well. One of my favorite spots. I saw a monk seal basking last time I was there as well as the Albatross. How special! No whales on our trip though. That would be really great.
Sorry to hear about Sam getting sick. I am sure he recovered quickly.
