Dear brother…

I just came across this picture as I sifted through the 485 pictures of our fantastic week together. I thought of you all day and knew precisely when you landed in LA, ready to shift into high gear again with client meetings and deal brokerings (a word?). I pictured you choosing from among the shirts, suits and blazers you’d stuffed into a bag for the coming week. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed being “big kids” again, stealing some time away from obligations (kids, Blackberries, emails, clients) to ride waves on surfboards and kayaks. How many times did you load the boards on the truck to check out beaches, looking for the right spot? The kids and grown-ups indulged us well, aiding as sherpas with the gear, and bringing pizza and mai tais to keep us going. I hope you don’t have to get that other shoulder joint replaced after this week of paddling! I miss you already and wish we had more time together, but man we get the most out of the time we do have, don’t we? I can’t believe you, the notorious P.I.G., were tired every night by 9:30pm! I managed to get you onto our schedule! Ha! I can’t wait until next year and am going to enjoy my workouts all the more knowing we can look forward to taking our adventures to the next level next year. This is a wonderful tradition you have helped craft…I love it! Here’s to many many more Thanksgiving decathlons! (Who the heck loses weight over Thanksgiving?). And here’s a little list of the ideas we tossed around on your last night here…

  • Circumnavigate Moku Nui (note: bring helmet, reef walkers, GPS locator in case of head-ramming into lava rock…)
  • Kayak surfing.
  • Wind surfing.
  • Kite surfing?
  • Surfing. Of course. Let’s try some new spots – Cockroach Beach and White Plains for starters.
  • More paddle surfing.
  • Rock climbing.
  • Glider ride?
  • Trail run Mariner’s Ridge.
  • Koko Crater?

Have a good week, and know your sister is thinking of you and praying for you often.

Lots of love,

yer sis

PS How did you remember to make the time to write us a note in our guest book in the busy-ness of packing up to leave? That was so special.
