the island life is relaxing

we have been enjoying the last couple days mostly relaxing, but taking care of some details to prepare for dave starting his new job on monday, and signing our loan application. the pace here is truly more relaxed than the mainland (even the west coast!), and we’re adapting to it pretty well (yes, even i am!). we’ve taken the boogie board out to ride the surf – i got slammed a few times and almost lost my shorts on one of them 🙂 sam enjoys wrecking sand castles with his little shovel, and LOVES to play in the water. caffrey has gotten to go for runs on the beach and chase sticks (sam also really likes that!). we went out for dinner and drinks last night in waikiki with mike and angel (thanks for watching sammy, gramma!). dave picked a great restaurant featuring eurasian tapas. we walked up the waikiki beach to the royal hawaiian (famous pink hotel) for drinks. it was amazing to sit in the warm air with breezes coming off the ocean, watching the moonlight reflect on the waves as we sipped our drinks. we’re so thankful to be here, enjoying time with our great friends and reflecting on how lucky we are to have found such a wonderful home to buy. we’re just waiting for the appraisal to come in so that our loan application can be approved by the VA. this portion of the process may take 2 weeks, so we need to sit tight a bit. i have not posted pics of the house to respect the privacy of the sellers. when it’s ours, you’ll see it!
sounds like heaven!!! who would have thought that dave would become a “gentlemens quarterly” kind of guy?? anyway i’m so happy for you all. i was talking to a friend from clifton pk. and she has a friends daughter that lives in hawaii for a long time. she makes jewelry and recently got married. her name is lisa lisenfeld. my friends name is terry buckley.it sounded like she lives near you. also i keep forgetting to ask if you knew father diacetis passed away? i just found out a month ago. i heard it happened around christmas..i was really shocked!! i didn’t mean to close on a sad note, just kept forgetting to ask you. love to allxxx g.g.
p.s. i forgot to tell you we’re going down to visit aunt kate for a few days.. i think we’ll be back on thurs.
