Christmas Day festivities
Merry Christmas to you! We so enjoyed this Christmas with Sammy since he was too young to comprehend the whole Santa backstory and the true meaning of Christmas last year. We have been reading the story of Jesus’ birthday to him, and the week before Christmas introduced the concept of Santa bringing presents. He even allowed us to leave chocolates out for Santa without trying to steal any of them for himself! He LOVES the sweets, just like Mommy. Sam had some Hershey’s kisses last night for dessert and he got quite a system down: as SOON as he had popped one in his mouth he began laboring over getting the next one out. This morning he got up and went out to check under the tree for presents (he’d been telling the “story” of Santa on Christmas Eve with many gestures – down from the chimney, over to the tree, laying the presents down…). His face was priceless when he saw all the presents. He was totally overwhelmed! We were blessed by many thoughtful and right-on-the-money presents from our family. We will send a personal thank-you with pictures to each of you in a day or two. I have many to sift through! Right now we’re off to our friends (Nate and Laurie) for Christmas dinner. It’s becoming a nasty habit to enjoy dinner at their house 🙂
It was a magical day for Pete and me, getting to see not only Sammy, but also his mommy and daddy take delight in the gifts they’d each received, while waiting to hear of the moment Pig received his amazing gift for this year!
There’s so much love that has winged its way on the gifts that have been given that it does get overwhelming.
Thanks to Dave and Alli for Christmas Eve dinner, for going out to a nice Christmas Day brunch, and for QUITE the Christmas dinner at Nate and Laurie’s.
Our Hawaii winter is being filled with precious memories. I thank God often for all His wonderful mercies.
