Here are pictures of our home! It’s been exactly a month since we closed, and 27 days since we got the keys. We’ve accomplished a lot in that time –

• found room in the kitchen for all Dave’s special glasses (!) and my bread baking tools,
• organized the closets and assembled furniture,
• ripped up floors to put travertine tile in the kitchen and dining area and wood laminate in the living room,
• installed custom, adjustable CD shelves in the hallway to transform “dead” space into a music library,
• built a new deck with built-in benches and flower boxes, and a new wood composite material that will be more durable, weather-resistant and doesn’t have splinters,
• planted trees and tropical flora in the yard.

We were so lucky to find excellent contractors on Craig’s list (Mahalo, Craig!). Papa Jack’s Remodeling is really amazing – their craftsmanship is drawn from years building homes in New England for celebrities, and their work ethic is equally commendable. The deck and shelves were done in just over four days. They’ll be back in a month to resurface our concrete to look like tumbled stone and knock out a wall to put in some doors onto the deck. We’re thrilled with what we’ve done so far and look forward to the second (and last) phase of remodeling. I also did a lot of planting yesterday – fruit trees, hibiscus, jasmine, palms, tea leaves. Whew! I am sore today. I will take pictures if they survive the week 🙂 ha ha!
