Sam-isms of late

“He doesn’t need help, he just likes your name, Mom.” Regarding Ben yelling for help with putting his fork through some “pessta” (pasta).

“Isn’t it nice to take care of the house? Look how clean I got the floor by the door. (later) Now it’s already getting grubby.” Regarding cleaning day today (Monday). We grabbed wipes and went after hair buffalos and paw prints all over. Sam was a big help.

“I can write a note to Dad. It can be a welcome out note, for when he goes to work. It can say ‘Go to work now, good bye.'” Regarding putting together a whole “book” (stapled pages) of writing that he did with Holly today.

the big dig!

My boys working hard at their big dig – we got Sam a dinosaur dig project which turned into a fairly involved project. The boys loved it. Sam waited so patiently for daddy to help. We went for a big run today – 13.1 miles (half marathon part of our training plan for the marathon) and then somehow had energy to spruce up the yard from our weeks away.

Sam has been doing a lot of great reading, and seems to have a good head for math (he did not get that from mom despite my strange affinity for logistic regression…). We did some homeschool lessons on my computer to test it out and see what he thought yesterday. He loved it…asking for lesson after lesson of math (we did one from K through second grade). Ben is talking so much that other people keep asking in amazement “How old is he?” He loves to point and tell us all his words. A true educator and communicator he is. Ben also loves to strut around and climb. Those who saw him at Dan and Heather’s wedding can attest to his energy 🙂 What a joy these two are. On our way to dinner last night, Sam said “Thanks for school, mom.”Â
