“I like to watch concerts ALL day LONG!”

My mom kept notes of the funny things we said on little note cards that she then filed away in photo albums. Thanks to her careful note-taking, now I know some of the truly nutty ideas I had as a preschooler. They’re still funny to me. So I’m following in her footsteps recording the things Sam says and does in this blog. I hope I can keep up with technology and retrieve them when I’m a grandma myself!

First bath…and bath toy from Sam

Here’s Sammy giving Ben his first bath toy – it’s a huge seed pod we found on the hike today. Sam wanted to play with it in his bath but then decided it should be “baby Ben’s first bath toy!” and he’s proudly showing it to Daddy. Ben didn’t make a peep with his bath, unlike big brother who howled the whole time! Today was Ben’s 14 day check-up – he was 10lbs 13oz so he’d gained 11 oz in 6 days since his last weigh-in. Seems like he’s feeding well, eh?! All the rest of the indicators were good, if not even a little advanced for his age (likely since he was 6 days past due). We went on a long walk today to test out the double jogging stroller – to the library, then to Lanikai Juice and home (4 mi total). We all felt good!

The three of us headed out for Ben’s first hike today. He is 13 days old. We chose the nearby Friendship Garden – it’s 5 minutes away and only about a mile and a half long. A little climbing, a good lookout for a snack, and great views. Plus, plenty of “loot” in the form of sticks and seed pods to bring home.

First day home alone with two boys

Thankfully Ben slept well last night despite being awake nearly all day on Sunday. We feared he’d be way overtired! I had planned on getting up early, feeding Ben, sipping a little coffee, then greeting Sam.

“He’s a sailor.”

Sam and I were just watching the news together about the campaign. Ben is taking a short morning nap, so I’m relishing this time with Sam alone.
